I have been lifting for over 10 years now and was tired of paying huge gym fees. This gym paid for itself in just over 2 years!!I would highly recommend it for people serious about bodybuilding, but not wishing to have a gym membership. The gym is very sturdy with heavy weights and is able to perform many more exercises than just those listed on the brochure. It is certainly engineered very well and is designed to cater for bodybuilders, not core strength athletes who may prefer a variety of cable exercises. This gym will build mass, as you are able to train to failure on all exercises safely. The squat feature is excellent, which also allows you to train the calves. You could not possible outgrow this gym, because as you become stronger you can always buy additional plates to add. Highly recommended!!

I bought my Powertec Workbench Leverage Home Gym for 4 months now. I waited to give this review because when you look for something like this one of the main things you want to know is, "Does it really work?" I spent months researching and trying out comparable machines like BowFlex, Bodysolid. I chose this machine because I wanted to lift REAL weight. I also needed something versatile and something that I wouldn't easily outgrow.

Space: The machine measures `6.5 feet Long x 3.5 feet Wide x just over `7 feet Tall. You will need at least `10 x `8 feet of floor space and a 7.5 high ceiling.

Packaging: Comes unassembled in 2 flat, heavy boxes. Total Weight: 328 lbs

Assembly: I assembled it by myself in 3 hours. The instructions were sketchy at times.

Capacities: You can load up to 500 lbs on the Press Arm, 350 lbs on the Lat Machine, 250 lbs on the Leg Lift, and 300lbs on the Squat Bar.

Quality: Has an in-home lifetime warranty and built to last. No weebly, wobbly, weight bench here. The bench is well padded and covered with good material.

Workout: Pure Power! I like that you can use real Olympic Weight Plates. No stretch bands, power rods, magnetic resistance, etc.. 100 lbs will feel like 100 lbs, no doubt. The press arm is self-spotting (good safety feature) and the leg lift and leverage arm move smoothly. I don't like that I have to completely empty the Press Arm when switching between some exercises. I sometimes avoid this by getting my wife to adjust the spotter arm while I lift the Press Arm. Considering that this is a multi exercise machine vs. single purpose benches that you'll find in the gym, this is only a minor issue. I found the movement on the leverage arm to be somewhat limited when doing Tricep exercises, I bought a Tricep Rope and it solved the problem

Recommended Accessories:

Olympic Weight Plates - These are the plates with the big holes. You can only use this type.

Olympic Curl Bar -Powertech offers the curl arm attachment, but save your money this.

Tricep Rope - A straight bar is included, but the rope will let you hit your triceps a whole lot better.

Gym Floor Mat - Protect the floor under your weight bench. The machine weighs over 300 lbs not including you and the weights you put on it

Powertec's machines are the real deal. Very heavy duty construction and built to last. This machine will give you as close to a gym workout as you can get using a single home gym. If my space wasn't limited, I might've chosen the PowerRack instead, but it's been four months now and I am very happy with my choice. I wish the Owner's Manual had more detail about exercises. A training video would've been nice. I had a hard time finding a store with a floor model I could try. Fitness Xpress is the only store I know of that has them on display in Queensland. My answer to the original question: I like the results. It works! Yeah, it definitely works!

I have only had this machine for just over 1 month now, and can honestly say without a doubt that this is the best value for money machine you can find on the market! You lift exactly what you put on no machine assisted exercises so you get out what you put in.

The machine is rather ... large... bigger then I expected it to be *gasp*. I'ts well packaged with plenty of foam although mine did come with a few scratches, but when being sent by road freight I have to say I was expecting worse !

It comes with an exercise fact sheet for you to put on your wall with a list of exercises possible, however I’ve found that the machine is much much more capable then the fact sheet gives it credit for. The range of exercises you can come up with are only limited by the user and his/her creativity! You can do just about ANYTHING with this machine.

The bench is really strong and sturdy, everything is made of well crafted materials and the upholstery is top notch.
I agree with the previous posters view on getting a rope for triceps pulls as it does make all the difference, that being said the straight bar it comes with is quite capable also.

The way the press is designed is great no more risk of dropping bars on your chest when trying to reach muscle failure – you can easily get there time and time again (note that the actual press bar does weigh about 20kg just like normal olympic bars keep it in mind when your stacking on your plates) Though I do agree having to take plates off to move the safety pin can be a real pain in the……

When you are putting it together the instructions can be … interesting to interpret at best… it did take me a small while to get it up and running by myself mostly because the bolts it had listed in the instructions weren’t numbered in the box so it was more of a trial and error swing miss occasion (hope it doesn’t come crashing down on me !)

All in all best investment you will make in the form of gym equipment –great for pt’s or even sporting clubs. The payment option that Xpress Fitness provides is top notch and makes things easier, wish more people would do it.

The only thing to worry about is the machine is so good you might bulk up too fast and turn into a big heffa ball of muscle mass!

In response to some of the comments made by others regarding the Powertech Leverage Multisystem, can anyone confirm the actual weight of the press bar? I note the comment made by Chayn Smith, which indicates that the press bar weighs around 20kg - like a normal olympic bar. Is that accurate? Thank all!
